"Karma is a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karma
Many people seem to have an incorrect understanding of karma, which actually only means "action", there is no such thing as good/bad karma, this is only an attribute of the mind which has to label everything it experiences, which allows it to deal with its environment, and will only label things as such depending upon the immediate suffering it experiences. Karma is only the action of balance throughout the universe and for all time. The action of karma exists because all things in the world need to exist in a state of equilibrium, otherwise, without balance all life would end up extinct. It goes beyond life and death, because these are only states of the mind, karma keeps the balance of life, and is the result of cause and effect, which is the law that all things/action can only exist because of something that existed before. Everyone is in control of their own karma, and cannot affect the karma of others, regardless of what you do in life you will be made responsible sooner or later, there is no escape, and the universe relies upon this equilibrium for its survival.

Thanks for straightening me out.
there is no "karma eguilibrium", karma is only term which points to a similar meaning as equilibrium, but that all that exists is because of cause and effect, nothing can exist without there being something before it, if you have studied science you would know that for every action there is an exact and opposite reaction, and in biology when an animal or a plant becomes extinct it has a major effect on the equilibrium of the environment, and the use of wiki was just an easy explanation for those who are new to the acual meaning of karma, and karma in not just an eastern idea the jews and jesus knew of karma, its a fundamental law of the universe, beyond any religion faith or individual
"do unto others as you would have them do to you", an "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth....", for me are very obvious examples, though i do admit they are my own interpretation, and i cant prove it to you, its from my own experience and study over the years, and karma itself is just a word that points to a process whci represent cause and effect, and the circle of life.
Karma is also a law, or a rule to govern how one acts towards other beings, and my interpretation is a very old one passed on from my teacher down from his, and so on and so on for thousands of years, and karma can be “burned off”, its not an “absolute”, negative karma can be reduced if an individual changes there behavior, but only with great insights or discoveries, and begins by doing “good”, this creates positive karma, and can decrease the effects of negative karma, and the justice is given by the universe it self, as it needs an equilibrium for its survival, and accounts for everything that happens to people, and why some are rich, some are poor, and why some people seem to be “lucky” or not, and it can also influence countries and your physical or mental abilities, and carries with you from one to birth to the next, and I think Jesus death was a huge waste, and he would have been able to carry out so much more if lived for far longer, though I understand why he did it, but I still don’t agree, and if there is a just god and followers believe that there is, than how can they also support the death penalty, there are to many inconsistencies in the beliefs of which the followers follow and their actions, but then I should really stop judging a religion based upon its followers, and instead of its principles.
